The 1989 and 1990 Portland Timbers were really the old FC Portland ball club with a new name under the ownership of Art Dixon. John Bain would again don a Timber uniform and also Ignacio Baez who played for the NASL Timbers in 1978 and 1979.

Scott Benedetti tied for 7th in league scoring with 8 goals and 1 assist for 17 points. Rob Baarts finished 9th and Robert Lang tied for 10th. Baarts scored 7 goals and 2 assists for 16 points and Lang had 7 goals for 14 points. Kasey Keller finished 1st in GAA with a League Record 0.38 GAA. Kasey only gave up 4 goals in 10 matches and a total of 938 minutes. He also set a League Record with 8 shutouts! He was named both league MVP and Goalkeeper of the Year. Greg Mass played 8 games and started 6 of them, in goal and he finished with a 1.04 GAA giving uip 9 goals in 602 minutes.

John Bain, Scott Benedetti and Kasey Keller were named to the 1st-Team All-League.
